Job Description

We are seeking an Active Directory Systems Engineer to support the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program which provides Information Technology Service to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability. The successful candidate will provide direct support to HUD enterprise network systems and manage Linux server infrastructure solutions across multiple solution areas within the environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day administration duties including Windows Active Directory object maintenance
  • Configure and maintain complex Active Directory forests and domains across a complex network with thousands of users and Active Directory objects
  • Create advanced monitoring strategies for monitoring and reporting health of Active Directory components
  • Continually monitor environment to ensure best practices and Federal guidelines are being followed
  • Monitoring, backup, and restoration procedures for Active Directory
  • Analysis, design, capacity planning and implementation of Active Directory Security
  • Conducts complex troubleshooting and repair tasks on Active Directory, Windows Server 2008-2019, Domain Controllers, user authentication and other operational systems as needed


  • Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Extensive experience as primary engineer for Microsoft Active Directory on-premises
  • Expert level troubleshooting skills with Active Directory Infrastructure, Azure AD, Group Policies, DNS, PKI, Microsoft PowerShell, Windows Servers Server 2008-2019, and Windows 10
  • Administration of organizational units (OU) and server/user security through group policies, administration of domain global groups and local groups, domain user accounts, overall AD forest and domain optimization.
  • Ability to quickly get up to speed on complex topologies and interdependencies across a wide range of technologies, most specifically: 2012 or later forest/domains and complex group policy architecture and administration
  • Experience automating routine tasks via PowerShell
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
